Abigail's Inn - A quaint Camden Maine Bed and Breakfast
Abigail's Inn is a quaint little Bed & Breakfast located in Camden, Maine. It is one of smallest B&B's in the area with only four rooms. Don't let its size trick you into thinking that it isn't one of the best places to stay. Abigail's Inn is watched over by its owners Beth and Kip. These two bought the Inn in 1990 when they decided it was time for a change. Kipp was the IT Director for USAToday.com and Beth was a prestigious event planner, who was last working for the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum.
They decided to get away from the hustle and bustle that accompanies the Washington, DC lifestyle and purchased the Inn. It is the perfect distance, just being outside of Camden, Maine while still being just a short walk away from the downtown and harbor. The house is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and was built in 1847 but has only been a Bed and Breakfast since 1990.
While there are only 4 rooms, each of them are rich with history. The Jefferson Davis Room is where Jefferson Davis stayed while he was a guest of the original owner, U.S. Congressman E.K. Smart. It is the perfect blend of history with the luxuries of today. The Abigail and John Adams Suite is the perfect place to relax in the evening. It also features an additional room which makes it spacious enough for 3 guests to be comfortable. The Rose Garden Room is the coziest room in the Inn and can be found in the carriage house. It offers privacy accompanied by the perfect atmosphere for relaxation. Finally, there is the Copper Beech Suite. It is the largest room at Abigail's Inn and features a comfortable king size bed, Vermont Casting fireplace, and even a 2-person Jacuzzi tub.
After the perfect night's sleep, you can wake up to one of the best breakfasts around. A consistent favorite is the French toast stuffed to the brim with seasonal fruit. Even the sweet treats by the coffee pot get rave reviews at this Inn.
